Biology - Greenhouse
Your gift will help reconstruct the nearly 60-year-old greenhouse located on the west side of the Cyril Moore Science Center. Currently housing plants from around the world and providing specimens for both introductory and upper-level classes, the 300-square-foot structure has suffered from harsh North Dakota winters. Reconstruction will include double-layered panels, working irrigation systems, and a climate-controlled interior.
The greenhouse allows Minot State to keep spring, summer, and fall plants blooming year-round and is essential for students interested in conservation, enabling students to see live plants of all types during even the coldest months. Utilized in classes such as Intro to Biology, Intro to Botany, Plant Anatomy, and Vascular Plant Taxonomy, students also gain experience in horticulture and undergraduates use the greenhouse to run plant physiology experiments to determine factors that influence plant winter dormancy. Make your mark and help rebuild the greenhouse today!
