Kinesiology - SwimEx
The SwimEx is an
invaluable tool for teaching students rehabilitation and exercise progression
in a low-weight-bearing environment. Originally costing over $103,000
(excluding installation) in 2010-2011, the SwimEx 900T has been a vital asset
for pool therapy. However, the treadmill component is currently non-functional,
having been damaged to the point where the tread has come off the belt,
rendering it unusable. A repair for the treadmill is approximately $28,000. This treadmill is essential not only for rehabilitating
athletes but also for instruction in exercise science and rehabilitation, as
well as courses in therapeutic exercise, pathomechanics, and biomechanics.
Restoring this equipment to full functionality would enhance students’ and
athletes’ experiences.
